Scotland’s first ever Year of Young People is happening in 2018. It aims to inspire all ages through its young people (8-26) by celebrating their achievements, valuing their contributions to communities and creating new opportunities for them to shine on a local and global stage.

Young people are at the heart of designing, developing and deciding what they want the year to be. The Scottish Government is working with youth partners and the events and tourism sector to deliver activities and experiences for communities across Scotland to enjoy and discover more about our amazing young people.

Saturday 23rd June 2018

Saturday 23 June 2018 will see Perth celebrating the Year of Young People 2018 (YOYP2018) in spectacular style with a day-long event putting young people aged eight to 26 in the spotlight. Diverse CiTay has been co-produced by local young people with support from local bodies and organisations. Kicking off the day at 12.30pm, a carnival parade with a colourful, vibrant display of floats, vehicles, dance troupes and bands will head from the South Inch along Tay Street to the North Inch, where the North Inch Carnival will run from 1pm to 4.30pm, with a vibrant mix of performers, entertainment and activities.

Free Golf For Under 18s

Clubs across Perthshire offer all junior golfers under 18 years FREE golf when playing with a paying adult. We are delighted to encourage any combination of adults taking juniors out to enjoy a round in a two, three or four-ball.

A maximum of two children are permitted to play free, accompanied by one green fee paying adult. We recommend booking in advance as reservations are subject to availability. Some clubs may apply restrictions but whenever possible, they will do their best to accomodate and give junior golfers an opportunity to experience golf in Perthshire.
