Gaelic features in both the rich, cultural past and vibrant contemporary present of Perth and it’s surrounding towns. Although we may not have huge numbers of Gaelic speakers in the area today, at one time in the not so distant past Gaelic was the language of our communities. Perthshire also has its own unique dialect of the language which features in many well-known songs, stories and poems. You just need to take a look at any map to see the traces of Gaelic in our landscape, both urban and rural.
