The Black Watch Castle and Museum has been crowned Central, Fife and Tayside winner of Scotland’s Best Heritage Tourism Experience at last week’s Visit Scotland Thistle Awards regional finals.

Anne Kinnes, Chief Executive Officer at The Black Watch Castle and Museum said, “We are thrilled to have won this award. I give thanks to our talented team whose dedication to sharing The Black Watch Story and providing a world class experience for our visitors has made the Home of The Black Watch an award winning organisation.”

Jim Clarkson, VisitScotland Regional Partnerships Director, said: “I would like to say a huge congratulations to the team at the Black Watch Castle and Museum for this thoroughly deserved Scottish Thistle Award. The new Historic Environment Scotland – Best Heritage Tourism Experience Award celebrates Scotland’s rich and vibrant heritage and those who bring it to life. The Black Watch Castle and Museum is a shining example of that, always looking at new and innovative ways to tell the story of Scotland’s elite military regiment to audiences old and new. I wish them the best of luck in the national Scottish Thistle Award final next year.”

2017 sees the Scottish Thistle awards mark the ‘silver’ anniversary for the prestigious competition, which celebrates success, innovation, excellence and best practice in the country’s tourism and hospitality industry. Over the past 25 years, the Scottish Thistle Award has crowned over 350 national winners. This year 734 entries were submitted, including hundreds of nominations from members of the public keen to recognise those businesses and organisations who go the extra mile to provide customers with exceptional service.

All regional winners of the Thistle Awards will attend the National final on 15th March 2018 when the Scottish winners will be announced.
