Tippermuir Books is a not-for-profit community publisher based in Perth – the only publisher based in Perth. Its charitable side, Made in Perth, is responsible for running and maintaining the local history website of the same name.
Tippermuir was established by Rob Hands and Dr Paul S. Philippou in 2009 with its first publication, Battleground Perthshire: Two Thousand Years of Battles, Encounters and Skirmishes. Matthew Mackie joined the Tippermuir team, which includes graphic designer Bernard Chandler, a couple of years ago. Battleground Perthshire was followed by other titles the including novels Trust by Ajay Close and A Chocolate Soldier by Dave Millar; a play, Love All, by Dorothy L Sayers which was launched at the Essex Crime Writing Festival by former MI5 Director General and today crime novelist Stella Rimington; a short story collection from Alan Laing entitled Walking with Ghosts; two anthologies, Perth: As Others Saw Us by Donald Paton and Taking Detective Novels Seriously by Dorthy L Sayers and Martin Edwards; two books on the Spanish Civil War, Spanish Thermopylae and In Spain with Orwell; and several books on the history of Perth and Perthshire.
The company’s most recent publications are: The Early Photographers of Perthshire by Roben Antoniewicz and Paul Philippou; The Tale o the Wee Mowdie, a children’s book written in Scots; Wee Stories from the Crescent – a reminiscence of Perth’s Hunter Crescent estate by Anthony Camilleri; and the forthcoming The Fair Maid of Perth– the Perth edition.
Tippermuir is happy to receive books and ideas from authors especially titles of local interest.
