Crieff is an attractive market town in Strathearn, an area of Perthshire known for its beauty and its abundance of things to do.
In Crieff there are many local galleries offering paintings and sculpture by Scottish artists, and the Crieff Visitor Centre makes and sells Caithness Glass. A visit to the nearby Innerpeffray Library, founded in 1680 as Scotland’s first free public lending library, is also a must.
For outdoor fun and adventure, there’s so much to choose from. You could explore the stunning Drummond Castle Gardens, among the finest formal gardens in the country. Or visit the Buchanty Spout or Deil’s Cauldron waterfalls nearby.
The legendary Crieff Hydro Hotel, set in 900 acres of beautiful Perthshire countryside, offers practically any activity from horse-riding to Segway-trekking, aerial adventures to archery. You could also just relax in their spa and enjoy their local cuisine. MacRosty Park near the centre of Crieff is great fun for a stroll with kids and dogs.
And Scotland’s oldest distillery, Glenturret, is on the outskirts of Crieff and welcomes thousands of tour visitors a year, all keen to find out how the signature malts and blends are created – and to meet the distillery cats, of course!
