Scotland’s Ultimate Christmas Party

17th November, Perth City Centre

It’s big, bright and brimming with stars, Perth’s Christmas Light’s Switch On is this year’s must-see festive celebration with a fantastic line-up of sensational acts making their way to Fair City to kick-start the season’s glorious Winter Festival.

Taking you from afternoon into evening, Perth’s Christmas Light’s Switch-On has something for everyone – stages, entertainment-packed streets and an array of tasty treats and street food await you as we prepare to countdown to Christmas 2018.

Here’s a taste of what you can expect this year. 

Stephen Mulhern

Main Stage Compere – 6.00pm

Hosting the main stage, later in the afternoon, for you on the 17 November we will have Britain’s Got More Talent, In For a Penny and Catchphrase presenter Stephen Mulhern!

Stephen is an English presenter, entertainer, and magician, best known for presenting television programmes for ITV. He became the youngest member of The Magic Circle, which brought about an appearance on Blue Peter in a piece about Harry Houdini.

James Arthur

Main Stage Headline Act – 7.40pm

James will be joining us as a headlining act on the main stage this year – and we can’t wait to welcome him to Perth City Centre.

James is a British singer and songwriter who won the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012. His debut single, “Impossible”, was released by Syco Music after the final and debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart in its first week of release. Since then, it has gone on to sell over 1.4 million copies in the UK, making it the most successful winner’s single in the show’s history and has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide.

Pixie Lott

Main stage Headline Act -7.00pm

With three number one singles, chart-topping pop princess Victoria Louise Lott, aka Pixie Lott is a singer-songwriter, actress and model, best known for her singles: Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh), Boys and Girls and All About Tonight.

Lott released her new single “Won’t Forget You” featuring Stylo G on 29 September 2017, which is expected to be the lead single from her upcoming 4th studio album.

Titan the Robot

Children’s Stage – Mill St -12.30/2.00/3.30pm

‘Hysterically funny’, ‘the ultimate crowd puller’, ‘thrilling entertainment’, ‘surpassed all expectations’, ‘incredibly cool’, ‘totally blown away’; all phrases used by clients to describe this unique show. Ladies and Gentlemen we give to you, the world famous Titan the Robot.

Festive Fun

As well as a huge range of entertainers and artists taking to our stages, there’s also plenty to see and do! 

Ice Carving – Mill Street 12am – 5pm

Glacial Art will be returning once again to Perth to create some amazing works of art from some of the largest ice cubes we have seen. Watch the artists carving live and if you’re lucky you might even get a shot.

Fairground Rides – Mill Street 10am – 9pm

Our Christmas Party will be bursting with funfair rides, games and activites for you to enjoy throughout the night!

Christmas Parade and Fireworks

Join Santa, his reindeer and a host of guests on the annual Christmas parade through the streets of Perth. Leaving Thimblerow at 5.30 pm, the parade makes its way to the main stage where the Provost will switch on the lights at 6.15pm triggering an amazing fireworks display on the banks of the River Tay.

Santa’s Animal Friends

12.00 noon – 4.30 pm – Mill Street

Visit the Cairngorm reindeer, and Santa’s other four-legged friends who help him out around the North Pole when Rudolph is having a well-deserved rest.

Santa’s Grotto and Ice Caves
12 noon to 9.00 pm –
Horsecross Plaza
Visit Santa in his special grotto to let him know your biggest Christmas wish in person. Then go see the elves to collect your special Perth Christmas present, before exploring the special ice caves.

Getting Here

Perth is the most accessible city in Scotland with fantastic road, bus and rail links. Scone Palace is just two miles North of Perth City Centre.

By Car/Park and Ride

Perth is easily accessible by road from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Stirling and Inverness. There’s a wide range of safe and secure, short stay car parks within the city centre.

Perth can be reached by a network of fast and reliable coach services. Travelling around Perth is easy by bus, with many fast and reliable services available, from all over the City.

By Train

Perth Railway Station is a short walk from the city centre. There are regular services to and from Stirling, Dundee and Pitlochry, with a journey time of around 30 minutes.Direct trains to and from Edinburgh run at approximately two hourly intervals.
