Exel Wines is Perth’s leading independent wine merchant and (so far as we can calculate) Scotland’s largest internet wine supplier, offering over 2,000 wines and an extensive range of malt whiskies, gins and other spirits. From their Perth shop and warehouse, wine fans across Scotland, the UK and Europe can find the wines they want from across the world, largely at UK-best prices. They specialise in highly-rated wines featured in the world’s wine press, particularly Decanter magazine.

We’re Going to Town to host one of our favourite wine producers here in Perth on the evening of Friday, 9th November. And we’d like you to join us.

The producer is Planeta, the doyen of Sicilian wine. As Hugh Johnson’s World Atlas of Wine puts it, “the innovative and savvy Planeta family has put modern Sicilian wine on the world map”. From international grape varieties to those found only on Sicily, from unusually velvety reds to complex whites, the Planeta range is among the very most popular that we offer at Exel.

That range, you can sample in detail with Planeta in November.

We’ll be joined by their winemaker, Patricia Toth, who will guide you through a broad selection of the Planetas, all to be enjoyed with a selection of accompanying canapés.

We’re particularly pleased to be holding the event in the Sculpture Hall of the Perth Museum and Art Gallery: a splendid space for some splendid wines.

The tasting will run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm that evening and there will be 80 tickets available. We’re expecting a full and busy evening, but to get everything sealed down early, we’re offering an Early Bird ticket, priced £17.50 a head, from now until 5pm on Friday, October 12th (4 weeks before the event). Thereafter, tickets will be £20.00. Tickets can be purchased easily on-line here, or via our shop at 47, South Street.

This promises to be quite an evening for wine enthusiasts and the wine-curious alike. If you can be there, we and Planeta would be delighted to see you.
