ACCLAIMED AUTHOR NANCY CAMPBELL AT KINROSS CURLING CLUB
Tuesday 20 November, curling games from 5.45 to 10.30 (drop-in event, come when you like and stay for as long as you like). Free, with paid bar.
Acclaimed author Nancy Campbell writes about Kinross Curling Club and other ice sports in her new book The Library of Ice, which reveals the stories hidden in ice around the world from the Arctic to the Alps. We’re delighted to have Nancy back in the warm atmosphere of the club bar to sign her books during a busy evening of curling which will give newcomers a taste of the sport. First-time visitors to the club and seasoned curlers equally welcome.
‘A wonderful book: Nancy Campbell is a fine storyteller with a rare physical intelligence. The extraordinary brilliance of her eye confers the reader a total immersion in the rimy realms she explores. Glaciers, Arctic floe, verglas, frost and snow — I can think of no better or warmer guide to the icy ends of the Earth’ Dan Richards, author of Climbing Days
“deft, dazzling and dangerous … writing from the furthest reaches of history and climate change” Carol Ann Duffy, the Poet Laureate
Please note: this is not an author talk, but a relaxed evening in the bar with the author and others watching the games. Books will be on sale.
