We are delighted to launch the 3 rd Strathearn Junior and Youth Aquathlon which will take place on Sunday 24 th June 2018.

About the event:
Aquathlon events consist of a pool-based swim followed by a run.  Our event is registered and permitted through Triathlon Scotland and is open to all – so whether you are a complete newcomer to the sport, or a club member who has participated in some events, we’d love to see you in Crieff.  All you need to take part is a swimming costume/trunks or triathlon suit, swimming goggles (recommended), trainers, shorts and T-shirt (if you want to change in transition).
Please note that, as the event is permitted by Triathlon Scotland, names and email addresses of non-members will be shared with Triathlon Scotland.

Entry Fees:
Entry fees cover all facilities and changing, medals and goody bags for all competitors, timing (from Keep It Simple Timing), safety cover and first aid.
All categories are £15.00 per entry.
If you are a member of Triathlon Scotland there is a £3 discount making entry only £12.00.
Closing date for entries is 11.00pm on Monday 18 th June 2018.
If you wish to pay by cheque please make your cheque out to Strathearn Community Campus and send it to Live Active Leisure, Strathearn Community Campus, Pittenzie Road, Crieff, PH7 3JN.

Age Groups and Timings:
Please note that age categories are based on your age on 31 December each year. For example, if you are age 8 on race day, but will be age 9 by 31 December, you will be in the age 9-10 category.
Please find below a schedule showing registration, briefing and estimated event times.  There may be changes to times based on final entry numbers – a final event schedule will be e-mailed out to all competitors after the closing date.  All entrants must attend the race briefing and we welcome parents/carers at our race briefing too.

The event centre is based at Strathearn Community Campus which provides the additional support facilities required.  There are plenty of shower and changing facilities with storage lockers. These will be clearly signed for Aquathlon and include communal pool changing and male & female dry side changing rooms. You will need a 50p coin for the lockers which is returnable.
Registration will take place in the 3 Court Sports Hall.  Race Briefings and Prizegiving will be in the Assembly Hall.
Strathearn Community Campus has a café which sells a variety of hot and cold snacks such as panini’s, toasties, sandwiches and home baking.
There is car parking at the campus with entry from Pittenzie Road.  There is additional parking at Crieff Primary School, Monteath Street or in other public car park areas in the town.

Medical Cover:
There will be a robust medical plan in operation with plenty of medical
provision throughout the event from qualified and experienced First Aiders.

Swim distances are noted above.  There will be 4 lanes with a maximum of 4 athletes per lane in each heat. There will be a maximum of 10 heats depending on entry numbers.
Athletes will be set off at 5 second intervals according to allocated swim hat colour.  You must not overtake slower swimmers within your lane.  If you are faster than the swimmer in front of you, touch their feet and the slower
swimmer must allow you to overtake at the turn.  A lap counter will indicate 2 lengths to go by “tapping” your head (or feet if you use tumble turns), with a swim float. Do not argue with the lap counter, you have swum your distance when they tell you.

Each competitor will be given a race number and will put their running kit by the cone which has the same number.  When competitors leave the pool area they exit from the pool hall and head to the transition area in a cordoned off section of the car park.  Here they will find their cone and kit and change in to trainers and any other additional running kit they have.

Run routes are around the campus playing fields and routes are available to view on our website (www.liveactive.co.uk).  On race day they will be well marshalled and sign-posted.

Age Category awards:
The presentation will take place in the assembly hall at Strathearn Community Campus and an estimated time for this will be published once we confirm the number of heats.
All finishers will receive a medal and there will be trophies for 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd in each of the following categories:
