Perth and Kinross Archaeology Month returns this year in a new September slot as part of the annual Scottish Archaeology Month. It promises to be an engaging and varied programme offering residents and visitors a variety of ways to actively engage with the historic environment. Dunkeld is the place to be in Perth and Kinross Archaeology Month as programme organisers Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust, in partnership with Dunkeld and Birnam Historical Society and AOC Archaeology Ltd, host an exciting living history event with ancient craft technology and combat demonstrations plus hands-on activities for all the family. Guided walks will also be on offer up to the enigmatic hillfort of King’s Seat, above Dunkeld, where exciting early historic metalworking evidence is being uncovered. If you’re looking to get even closer to the past then why not volunteer with PKHT on their two week excavation and help unlock the secrets of King’s Seat.
