A weel-kent face and a greatly in-demand flute and keyboard player on the Scottish folk scene with a huge number of artists, Hamish Napier stepped into the spotlight in 2016 with his wonderful album The River, inspired by his upbringing beside the Spey. It earned fantastic reviews and nominations for both Album and Composer of the year at the prestigious Scots Trad Awards.
As well as performing music from The River, Hamish and his hugely talented band – Ross Ainslie, Patsy Reid, Innes Watson, Martin O’Neill, Euan Burton, Tom Gibbs and Ryan Mackenzie – will be working with our own big youth music ensemble, The Gordon Duncan Experience in a series of workshops to prepare a one-off opening set for the concert.
