***About the bands***
Astrophe is an alternative rock band from Perth, Scotland. Founded by lead singer and guitarist, Alexandra Pawlitka, the solo project evolved into a fully realised band in 2017 as Jack Hughes (lead guitar, backing vocals), George Robinson (bass) and Doug Rees (drums) joined.
The sound of the band shifts between distorted and haunted guitars, with melodic vocals built on a solid rhythmic foundation. In June 2017 Astrophe released their debut single ‘Limerence’ which was reviewed by Slow Dragon Music as ‘(…) another level in a temple to shoe-gazing, British alternative, and fuzzy, 1990s Americana’ and also ‘incredibly promising, and harmonically touching’.
Indie, Post Garage, Punk, Rock
Heart Beach play sad, girl-guy, 9to5 pop songs. In 2016 the band signed to legendary Australian label Spunk! to release their second LP (Arcade Fire, Akron/Family, Animal Collective, Antony and the Johnsons, Belle and Sebastian, Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky, the Libertines, Sufjan Stevens, Sleater Kinney, Mac Demarco, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s).
Heart Beach Reviews:
“There’s something very satisfying about a band that limits itself to a simple aesthetic and builds a world with what they have” (Rolling Stone)
“Like The Smiths, like Joy Division, this music is oddly and often wonderfully uplifting. Almost every song starts with a drawn-out chord poignant enough to break Rupert Murdoch’s stony heart. It takes a brave, thoughtful band to sound this vulnerable. Heart Beach are beautiful, beautiful, melancholy babies. Treasure them.” (The Guardian ★★★★)
