For as long as I can remember dogs have been a big part of our family.  The first dogs we had were two Dobermans, later on followed collies, a dachshund and now Baxter our Lhasa Apso.  As all dog lovers will understand dogs are a massive part of the family and it’s great being able to include them in more than just a walk in the park.

For nearly four years I’ve been blessed with having my little sidekick Baxter the Lhasa Apso.  From the beginning he became a huge part of the family.  We take him everywhere from shopping trips, nights out, road trips and holidays.  Baxter even played a very important role in our wedding as ‘Best Dog’ and came with us on our honeymoon in the campervan when we did the North Coast 500.  Everything is planned around him so he is never left alone for a long time if we can’t find a dog sitter.

When Baxter was around 6 months old I found out that a few of the cafes and pubs in town welcomed dogs. It was great as it meant we didn’t need to worry about how long we were away and Baxter loved coming with us and being fussed over by everyone he met. Over the past few years Perth has become more and more dog friendly with many shops, cafes, pubs and even hotels welcoming our four legged companions.  You are now spoiled for choice with the vast range of places you can visit with your dog.

A few years ago I set up Dog Friendly Perthshire to help inform other dog owners of all the great places that welcome dogs across Perthshire and to also benefit dog friendly businesses. Perth is quickly getting the reputation as the Dog Friendly Capital Of Scotland and it’s easy to see why with so many places welcoming dogs and genuinely enjoying them visiting their premises.  You are now able to visit Perth city centre and spend a whole day shopping and getting a bite to eat and something to drink without the worry of leaving your dog and having to rush back home to them.

Take a look at Baxter’s top 10 Dog Friendly places to visit in Perth here!
