Sportsman’s Dinner at King James VI @ King James VI Golf Course
Jan 19 all-day
Sportsman's Dinner at King James VI @ King James VI Golf Course

While North Inch may be known as the first place King James IV played golf, the course named after his descendent, King James VI, has the distinction of being the only self contained island course in the country. Founded in 1858 and moved to Moncrieffe Island in 1897, King James VI remains one of the oldest surviving golf clubs in the UK.

The course is accessible only by foot but also offers a unique view of the city of Perth on the other side of the River Tay, which you can catch glimpses of throw the tree lined fairways and bunkers. Like its neighbour on the nearby North Inch – perfect for a jam packed golf weekend – the city centre is within walking distance and makes for an ideal city break this Summer. Visitors are welcome to try out the full 18 hole course, then enjoy food and drink in the adjacent clubhouse.

The Perth Burns Club Annual Dinner @ Salutation Hotel
Jan 26 @ 6:30 pm
The Perth Burns Club Annual Dinner @ Salutation Hotel | Scotland | United Kingdom

The Annual Dinner of the Perth Burns Club is our most prestigious event of the year and widely regarded as being one of Perth’s leading social occasions.  It provides an ideal opportunity for local businesses and other organisations to enjoy a great night out and perhaps also to reward valued customers and/or high-performing staff.  The seating plan features round tables each seating eight persons – ideal for group bookings – and almost any party size can be accommodated.

The Dinner will be held in the Salutation Hotel, Perth on Saturday, 26th January, 2019 at 6.30 for 7 pm.

“The Immortal Memory” is to be proposed by Donald Paton, whose remarkable 35 years of service to the Club was recognised at our 2016 Dinner.  Donald is current President of The Burns Club of Vancouver and also Honorary Life President of The Perth Burns Club.

The Toast to the Lasses will be given by Councillor Willie Wilson, the Depute Provost of Perth & Kinross.  The Reply from the Lasses will be given by former Councillor Joan McEwen.  Our programme will include other artistes of the accustomed high standard. Further details are provided on the club’s website at http://www.perthburnsclub.org.uk/dinners.html

The ticket price is £27 for Club members and their spouses and £32 for non-members. There is no limit to the number of guest tickets allowed but, as recent dinners have seen high attendances and numbers are limited to 175, early booking is advised.  Although dress for the function is optional, the wearing of evening or Highland dress is strongly encouraged.  Any special seating or dietary requests should be mentioned on the reply form.  Please note that we cannot offer refunds for bookings cancelled less than 48 hours prior to the Dinner unless the places can be filled from a waiting list.
