Pitlochry Festival Theatre: Saba Douglas-Hamilton – A Life with Elephants @ Pitlochry Festival Theatre
Apr 19 @ 7:30 pm
Pitlochry Festival Theatre: Saba Douglas-Hamilton - A Life with Elephants @ Pitlochry Festival Theatre | Scotland | United Kingdom

Join Saba Douglas-Hamilton, the highly acclaimed elephant conservationist and BBC wildlife TV presenter of This Wild Life and Big Cat Diaries for an evening of exciting animal stories and intimate behind-thescenes tales of her life in Kenya.

Saba was born in the Great Rift Valley in Kenya and met her first wild elephant when she was just six weeks old, one of 400 living in the Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania that her father, Iain Douglas-Hamilton, was studying.

She has worked for Save The Rhino Trust in Namibia, the National Museums of Kenya and Save The Elephants and whilst working in the Samburu National Reserve she was approached by the BBC. The rest, as they say, is television history!

This event will include a Q&A session.

Tickets can be purchased from www.PitlochryFestivalTheatre.com or by phoning the Box Office on 01796 484 626.

English Touring Opera – Macbeth – Perth Festival of The Arts @ Perth Concert Hall
May 16 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
English Touring Opera - Macbeth - Perth Festival of The Arts @ Perth Concert Hall

The witches have a prophecy: Macbeth will be king. But royalty comes at a price. The cost of power is betrayal, murder and revenge.

Follow Verdi’s Macbeth in a blood-soaked journey to the throne and watch a guilt-ridden Lady Macbeth descend into the depths of despair in English Touring Opera’s new production. Starring Grant Doyle (Macbeth) and Madeleine Pierard (Lady Macbeth) in Verdi’s interpretation of Shakespeare’s iconic play.

Gerry Cornelius conducts his first opera for English Touring Opera, directed by James Dacre. Andrew Porter’s careful English translation brings as much of Shakespeare to the production as possible.

An Audience with John Simpson - Perth Festival of Arts @ Perth Theatre

With over 40 years’ experience in international journalism John Simpson has dodged the bullets in Tiananmen Square, danced on top of the Berlin Wall, and was on hand for the revolutions in Czechoslovakia and Romania. Last autumn, John’s novel – a fast paced and revelatory thriller – MOSCOW, MIDNIGHT was published to critical acclaim, and John will sign copies of this and his other books after his talk. In this fascinating afternoon, John will talk about some of the difficult and often dangerous situations he has faced as a reporter, as well as some of the more light-hearted and amusing tales from his own travels interwoven with stories of figures who went before him, such as Ernest Hemingway, Martha Gellhorn and Charles Wheeler.
