Nov 13 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Charlie Walker: An Eight-Month Eurasian Triathlon (PERTH) @ Salutation Hotel | Scotland | United Kingdom

In 2017, Charlie began a 9,000km triathlon along the perceived border between Europe and Asia. But Following the Line was not just an endurance feat, it was an exploration into what it means to be Asian or European. In this talk, Charlie discusses what divides or unites the peoples either side of the line, and comments on the diversity of landscape, environment, religion and culture along the border between East and West.

Penny Junor: All The Queen’s Corgis @ Pitlochry Festival Theatre

The Queen has had corgis by her side ever since she was seven years old and persuaded her father to buy one for the family. The dogs are the Queen’s constant companions and Jenny’s book reveals the scraps and scrapes in which the dogs have been involved.

Daughter of Sir John Junor and school-mate of Princess Anne, journalist, TV presenter and popular writer, Penny Junor is possibly best known for her royal biographies, originating with Diana: Princess of Wales, earning her the label of ‘royal expert’. This is a fascinating and affectionate look at the Queen and her most faithful companions on what really makes our much-loved and longest reigning monarch truly light up.

Etape Caledonia @ Pitlochry
May 19 all-day
Etape Caledonia @ Pitlochry

Etape Caledonia is a mass participation cycling event that has attracted more than 35,000 people since it debuted in 2007. With 5,000 places on offer each year, this sell out event attracts riders from all over the country to take on one of the most breathtaking rides through the spectacular Scottish Highlands.

This year’s event has two distances for you to choose from:

85 mile route

85 miles of closed road cycling beginning and concluding in Pitlochry. The course consists of rolling hills and forest-lined roads around Loch Rannoch and Loch Tummel, combined with the demanding, twisting climb of Mt Schiehallion (1,083m).

40 mile route

A 40 mile option of closed road cycling beginning in Pitlochry. The course will take you left away from the 85 mile route at Loch Tummel and then South towards Coshieville, round to Aberfeldy before you finish back in Pitlochry.

It will be hard for you to not enjoy the views, whilst taking breaks at the number of food and drink stations placed around the course. Once completed, it’s time to sit back, relax, and soak up the atmosphere in the Event Village. You can stick around afterwards and raise a glass with friends and family to toast your cycling achievement.
