Christmas Markets in Perthshire

It's Not Christmas Without...

A Christmas market – fact!  However 2020 has really tested us on how they'll happen.

As always though, the fabulous makers, creators, business owners and organisers of Perthshire and Kinross have pulled it out of the Santa sack and we are all systems go! Prepare for mulled wine, mince pies and simply gorgeous gift ideas for you and your loved ones.

Read on to learn how you can still have the Christmas Market experience this year, in a safe, welcoming space.

Please Note: With the ever-changing situation on travel and event restrictions we would advise that you check any 'Real Life' events with the organisers closer to the date.

The Fundraiser Markets

Whilst there are some full-scale markets out there, we also love the ones run by Parents Associations, Guide groups and charities, where local crafts and baking are on display and they raise money for these fabulous groups. The markets where you say you will pop along for half an hour, meet everyone you haven’t seen in ages and leave two hours later with a full shopping bag!

First of the mark on Saturday 20th November is the Methven Winter Market.  Run by the Methven Parks Committee it is at King George V Jubilee Playing Fields from 2pm and will have lots of local stall holders there, as well as refreshments.  All stalls are filled so it promises to be a busy, fun-filled afternoon.

Balbeggie Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday 28th November at Gordon’s Garden Centre promises to have crafts and baking to raise funds for the local Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.  There will also be a virtual offering and some raffles too.

The Virtual Markets

If you would prefer to stay home, then let the Christmas Markets come to you.  Pop on your Christmas jumper; pour yourself a cuppa, cut a slice of stollen and shop to your heart’s content!

Blackford Cares is a group that has been set up by the residents of Blackford.  After what has been a challenging year for all, many crafters and sellers face an uncertain future. The hope is therefore to facilitate online sales for their crafters (e.g. textile workers, jewellery sellers, bakers) and sellers (e.g. Body Shop, Avon, Usborne Books), at a time when face-to-face markets are prohibited or cancelled.

This will take the form on an online Facebook market. Each seller will have their own album within the group. You will have the option to browse the albums of individual sellers, or to scroll through all of the photos in the group, to see if anything takes your fancy.  A fantastic way to bring the local community together!

The Little Bit Different Approach

The Christmas Pop Up Walk Through at Pavilion Café in Crieff’s Macrosty Park is a concept we love.  For the next few weekends, local makers in the area will display their work in the Pavilion Café, Tomaknock Kids childrenswear, artist Daughter of the Stag, illustrator The Grey Earl are some examples of the range on offer.  Pop in, have a coffee and take in some of the loveliest of local produce and gifts made in Strathearn.  And while in Crieff, how about the Strathearn Arts Pop Up Shop? With a range of beautiful handmade delights from over 20 local creators, don’t miss your chance to pick a gift for your loved ones. They are open now, until the 22 December.

Highland Safaris has created a fabulous Christmas experience so you can have fun and make memories this Christmas.  With fabulous Christmas shopping, delicious seasonal treats in their café and of course Santa and his reindeer in the Christmas Grotto, this is a magical festive experience for the whole family.  Your loved ones will walk through the enchanted tunnel, feed Santa’s reindeer and get a special treat from Santa too.  On every Saturday and Sunday until 20 December.
