This beautiful woodland walk near Scone Palace just outside Perth, has been developed with disabilities in mind. There are a number of designated disabled car parking spaces beside the visitor centre, which has toilet facilities for people with disabilities. The visitor centre is only open during the summer months when they sell home baking, snacks and refreshments as well as crafts. The Quarrymill site is open all year round. Public transport is available nearby. Quarrymill has two types of path. The main paths are suitable for wheelchair users but there are a few paths which are steeply inclined and may prove impassable for some people. The two main paths are hard packed gravel which are over a metre wide. Along with rest places and benches there are barbeque and picnic areas beside the burn where you can stop and watch the birds. You will see many wild flowers and different species of trees and shrubs. You can also see ducks, moorhens and other wildlife. If you are really lucky you might even see a squirrel. The main path has a gentle slope and is two miles long, running from the visitor centre to New Scone. The walks are clearly sign posted, which means you can't get lost as you ramble through some of the best maintained woodland in Perthshire. |
