As part of the Perth 800 celebrations, Light Night Perth, a FREE cultural festival will take place over the weekend of 26 – 28 November 2010 offering a full and varied programme of events for families in Perth city centre. Light Night on 26 November will run from 18.00 – 22.00 although a full programme of events will run over the rest of Light Night weekend The following six zones will be illuminated and each of these zones will act as a main hub of activity: • St John’s Kirk • St John’s Shopping Centre • Perth Concert Hall • River Tay • AK Bell Library • Perth Museum and Art Gallery Key Light Night events on 26 November will include: • An interactive light display by Horsecross Arts shining outside Perth Concert Hall onto the plaza. • An exciting Moon light installation in Perth Concert Hall by leading Chinese artist Wang Yu Yang. • St John’s Kirk will come to life through a magnificent sound and light show re-telling the story of Perthshire’s eclectic past. • 1,000 Primary 4 boys from all over Perth and Kinross re-enacting the Battle of the Clans, through singing and dancing in Perth Concert Hall. • An illuminated 40ft climbing wall on King Edward Street. • Find out more about geocaching with local geocachers using GPS devices on a caching tour of Perth City Centre. • Perthshire Film Society presents a film night for families at Perth Museum. • Historical walks of Perth • An incredible light and sound show between Perth Bridge and Queen’s Bridge. A spectacular river based fireworks display between 21.00 – 21.30 will mark the finale of Perth 800. |
